About Us
The Managing Director
Iain Hickinbottom is the Managing Director of Tree Amigos. He started his career in horticulture and became involved in the arboricultural industry in 2000 as a tree surgeon. Iain moved into the world of tree management from a background of gardening with Westminster Abbey.
In 2003, Iain obtained the Royal Forestry Society Certificate in Arboriculture from Capel Manor College, passing with distinction. He is now a Certified Arborist and has continued his education to expand his knowledge within the industry. He recently studied the mortgage module at Myerscough College allowing him to write reports for insurance and mortgage purposes.
He has continued to feed his passion for trees, staying up to date with the latest research and developments in the industry through regular attendance of workshops, seminars and lectures.
The Company
After practicing as a tree surgeon for several years, Iain moved into management running a large tree surgery company. He eventually established his own company. This has been trading for over 10 years and now has an established client base.
We pride ourselves as being among the best tree surgery companies operating in the East Sussex area.
Our commercial, local authority and public sector clients will also be interested to note that we are a Constructionline accredited company. This is a UK government certification scheme and takes care of vetting companies on your behalf. This is an accreditation which focuses on Health & Safety, Environmental policy, equal opportunities and certification. We are assessed annually for this and the process focuses mainly on our health & safety compliance through our policies, training and working practice.
The Staff
At Tree Amigos we believe that a good knowledge of tree science is vital to underpin our tree work practices. To this end, several members of our team hold formal qualifications in arboriculture. All staff are kept updated regularly with new information on topics such as tree pests, fungal decay, pruning practice, tree establishment, soil compaction, birds, bats and tree related wildlife to name only a few!
Naturally, all of our staff are trained and certificated in the use of the basic machinery including Chainsaws, Stump Grinders and Wood Chippers. All staff have been trained in Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue with some holding less commonly achieved certification in Tree Pruning and Sectional Felling operations. These certificates are awarded by the NPTC (National Proficiency Testing Council) and provide proof of competence. All staff have been trained in Basic First Aid and hold certification.
Our Approach
Tree Amigos aim to provide an excellent service to all our customers. We respond to all enquiries promptly. An appointment will then be arranged to visit and assess the job, offer advice and options appropriate to the situation. A detailed written quotation is then provided. We will obtain Local Authority consent for the work if required. Our team will come out at a time and date to suit you to carry out the work. They will be courteous and helpful and aim to complete the work with the minimum of disruption.
